So, here’s how I changed the text title header to an image header on this BloggingPro WordPress theme:

1. Obviously you have to have or create your logo or image, daaaah!
2. Save it as whatever you want. I saved mine as: bloggingpro-header.jpg.
3. Upload/FTP it to the folder: content/themes/bloggingpro_wr/images/
4. Log in to your Wordpress admin panel.
5. Click “Presentation” tab.
6. Click “Theme Editor” tab.
7. Click on theme file “Stylesheet” to open “Editing style.css”.
8. Scroll down just a bit, as shown below.
9. Replace the lines of code in between, exactly as shown above in blue.
10. If you named your image something else, change it.
11. Change the image size to the size of your image.
12. If your image height is greater than 70px, increase the header size in the line just above the first blue line.
13. Don’t forget to click on “Update Options”!
14. Go to your admin panel and select “Options”. Remove the text from your Tagline if you don’t want it interferring with your image and header.
15. That’s it – all done!

The first thing you should do is insert your badge (graphic) code where you want it to appear (usually in a sidebar or widget). Then, you need to also insert the PPP Direct script. It’s two separate steps and codes.

When you have it set up properly – when a visitor clicks on your badge – a form will pop up. You can click on mine below to see what I mean:

Now, to get that one line of script code to work right on my WordPress site, I basically inserted it into my footer – right before the “</body>”.

For a how to step-by-step:

1. Login to your PPP account.
2. Click on the tab “PPP Tools”.
3. Beside your Blog Name and URL you’ll see “PPP Tools Installed”. Click on the “Get Code” button.
4. Copy your one-line script code.
5. Login to your WordPress Admin Panel.
6. Click on your “Presentation” tab and then your “Theme Editor” tab.
7. Click on your “Footer php” link to open “Editing Footer.php”.
8. Scroll down to “</body> . On the line above this – paste your PPP Direct script, like this:

Be sure to save by clicking on your “Update File” button.

Wordpress by default, just like other blogging platforms, has automatically been adding the “nofollow” microformat extension to all links from user generated content such as comments and trackbacks – thus giving no credit to these outbound links. Which basically means, these links are not being recognized by Google or other search engines that would otherwise help increase pagerank and popularity.

So now, on the rare occassion I get an accidental visitor to this blog and they take the time to fill out the form and leave me comment, I’ve installed a plugin that automatically removes the WordPress “nofollow” tags/attributes that link to their website.

Although I’ve yet to see the benefits of adding social bookmarking icons to the bottom of my posts, it’s pretty easy to do.

STEP 1.
Download the Social Bookmarks Plugin for WordPress from:
http://www.dountsis.com/projects/social-bookmarks

STEP 2.
Upload (FTP) the plugin to your WordPress plugin directory:
Example:  …/wp-content/plugins

STEP 3.
Log in to your WordPress Admin Panel.

STEP 4.
From your Dashboard, select Plugins.  From Plugin Management, select to Activate the plugin.

STEP 5.
Again, from your Dashboard, select the Options tab.  Now, click on Social Bookmarks.

STEP 6.
Edit your Social Bookmarks Options and Save. 

Doing it-my-way, here’s how to add Related Posts to the end of your posts:

STEP 1.
Download the Similar Posts WordPress Plugin (Version 2.3.6) from http://rmarsh.com/plugins/similar-posts/.

STEP 2.
FTP (upload) it to your Wordpress to folder : /wp-content/plugins.

STEP 3.
Activate.  Log  into your Wordpress Site Admin.  Select the Plugins tab.
Under Plugin Management, locate the Similar Posts plugin and select to Activate it.

STEP 4.
Under your Options tab, select Similar Posts to open your Similar Posts Options.  Edit your Options to your preferences and click on “Update” to save.

STEP 5.
Under your Presentation tab, select Theme Editor to open your template files.

STEP 6.
With your Theme Editor, select Single Post to open Editing single.php.  Scroll down to this code:

STEP 7.
Replace that code with this code:

Update File to save your changes.

STEP 8.
Again, with your Theme Editor, select Main Index Template to open Editing index.php.  Scroll down and change/edit the same-exact code.  Update File to save your changes.

That’s it – done.  If you did it right, it will look like this:

I first noticed that I didn’t like how this theme spaced-out and padded my images when I uploaded my plugin to display my social bookmarking icons at the end of my posts.  They were spaced-out and padded like this:

So, in order to remove the space/padding – to instead look like this:

… here’s how to do it:

STEP 1.
Log in to your WordPress – Site Admin.  Under [ Presentation ], select [ Theme Editor ].  Select to edit your [ Stylesheet (Editing style.css) ].

STEP 2.
Under [ Editing style.css ], scroll down to [ /* Central Column - Single Pages */ ].  Now, go down a bit further to:  [ .SCS img ] …

STEP 3.
Now, change the padding, border and margin pixel dimensions to these….

STEP 4.
Scoll down to [ .PostContent ] and make the same changes to [ .PostContent img ], like this:

STEP 5.
Update File to save your changes.  That’s it.

Here’s how I put that “Like madWAHM? Help pay my shrink… PayPal Donate Button box” on my sidebar:

Doing it my way – first, using Microsoft Frontpage, I created the box (table width – 140 pix) with my PayPal Donate button in it, like this:

Next, I logged into my WordPress panel.  Under the “Presentation” tab, I went to “Widgets”.  I added a new “Text” widget and moved it my SidebarLeft – at the top.

Last, I copied and pasted my HTML code from my Frontpage box (table) I made…

…into my Widget box, like this:

Be sure to “Save Changes”!  Otherwise, you’re going to have to do it all over again.

First, since this theme comes with widgets (which I’m still trying to figure out how to use properly), here’s how I put the 160×600 text links Adsense block into my sidebar:

1. Login in to your WP admin panel.
2. Click on the “Presentation” tab.
3. Click on the “Widgets” tab.
4. Drag your “Text 1″ widget to “SidebarLeft”
5. Click on your “Text 1″ widget to configure.
6. Copy and Paste your Google Adsense code into the blank space.  (I left the title blank).
7. Click “Save Changes”.
8. That’s it – all done with that one.

Second, here’s how I put the 468×60 text link Adsense ad blocks (blue with the rounded corners) that display at the top of my pages:

1. Login to your WP admin panel.
2. Click on the “Presentation” tab.
3. Click on the “Theme Editor” tab.
4. Click on “Main Index Template” to open “Editing index.php”.
5. To insert, Copy and Paste your Adsense code here:
6. Click on “Update File”!

Now, before I forget — I’ve read on other sites where people are worrying about too many adsense ad blocks showing up on one page and how it’s against Google’s TOS and people are worried about getting axed, banned and whatever.

Here’s what I know, or what I think because of what I’ve learned.  Yeah, that made sense!  Anyways,  none of that stuff will happen!  What happens when you have more than Google’s allowed amounts of ad blocks running on your pages is that the ones that are over the limit simply won’t run – or just won’t show up.

In fact, now that I’m thinking about it, I’m sure I even heard or read that…somewhere.  Does anyone know the facts on this?  Reliable resources please help me to clear this up!  As a last resort, I suppose I could take extreme measures into my own hands and go on over to Google and read their TOS….hmmmmm????

Now, because I can’t just be happy with the fact that someone else already went through the trouble of creating, designing and even offering their works for free, as usual – I have to create more work for myself by changing, adding and editing things.

Anyways, since I usually forget how I did something and later drive myself nuts trying to remember and/or figure out what/how I did it, I came up with the brilliant idea of posting it.  Hmmm…, now I’ll just have to remember where I put it.

Okay, so, first — this template does not come with a HOME page link at the top – in the header.  Why?  Who knows, but if you’re like me and not smart enough to click on the logo image – you’ll play hell getting HOME.  Here’s how I did it:

1. Login to Wordpress admin panel.
2. Click “Presentation” tab.
3. Click “Theme Editor” tab.
4. Click on theme file “Header” to open “Editing header.php”.
5. Scroll down to where it starts with “TopMenu” and you see this:
6. See the blue cursor and black arrow above?  Now, using your keyboard, hit “Enter” once, so you’ll create a new line.
7. Add the following new line of code that is highlighted in blue, as shown below:
8. Once you’re done, don’t forget to click on “Update File”!
9. Wa-la, that’s it – now everyone can find HOME.
