If you’re looking for a free, legitimate and steady way to make money online or work from home you should consider writing content and contributing it to ad-revenue sharing writer compensation sites and programs.

What kind of sites and programs are we talking about? Content-based sites like article directories and news, blogger, forum and other user-based communities that compensate their contributors, members and/or users.

What kind of revenue sharing are we talking about? There are 2 common types of ad-revenue sharing models that sites and programs use. There’s the Google Adsense Ad-Revenue Sharing Model and the Site Managed Ad-Revenue Sharing Model.

It’s my article so I get to name them what I want..

(1) Google Adsense Ad-Revenue Sharing Model

This model requires you to have your own unique Google Adsense Publisher ID. If you don’t already have one you can get one by applying directly to Google:

Sites running this model use Google Adsense to serve relevant ads on and throughout the pages of their site. You, as a site contributor, provide the site with your Google Adsense Publisher ID.

These sites then apply your Google Adsense Publisher ID in order to share their Adsense Revenue with you. This is done by allowing Google to credit a percentage (typically between 50% and 90%) of the ad-revenue generated from the pages your contributed content appears.

Your earnings are then directly linked, tracked and reported to your own Google Adsense Account. Google pays you for your accumulated earnings – not the site or program owner.

Site and/or program owners do not have access to your Google Adsense Account. They can only view your earnings. BTW, in case you didn’t know, your Google Adsense Publisher ID is not a secret. Anyone can view a site’s Publisher ID simply by doing a view page source.

However, you can control which sites you approve to use your Publisher ID. So, if you run into trouble with a site that’s running your Publisher ID, you can block it by editing the settings in your Adsense account.

Is all this against Google’s TOS? The short answer is no. But, get all the facts and information for yourself by reading Google’s Terms and Policies. And remember, it is ultimately up to you to investigate the legitimacy and reputation of any site or program.

Are you a webmaster, site owner or program developer? Want to start your own Google Adsense Ad-Revenue Sharing Program on your site? Google calls it Adsense API. Get the details from Google’s Flexible Revenue Share Program first. Plus, here’s a list of sites that provide ad-revenue sharing software and platforms:

(2) Site Managed Ad-Revenue Sharing Model

This model doesn’t require or use your Adsense Publisher ID – so you don’t need one.

Basically, here’s how this model then works:

These sites use Google, Yahoo or other ad networks to serve and display relevant ads on and throughout their site.

Then, using their own site managed member accounts and ad-tracking systems, they share with you their ad-revenue generated from the pages your contributed content appears.

As a contributor, stats and earnings are reported to your site managed member account. You then receive your payments directly from these site and/or program owners.

Although these sites can be a little more elusive regarding exact revenue sharing percentages, CPM and CPC they can be quite profitable.

Both ad-revenue sharing models are widely used on both small and large scaled sites. And, both have become popular methods in establishing a Win-Win situation for content publishers and site owners.

Know of another site or program to add to this list? Let me know.

I currently work a few of these sites with both ad-revenue sharing models to different degrees of success. There are pros and cons to each. I have found that creating unique and interesting content on a regular and consistent basis works wonders.

The latest scam to hit the work at home and online job market is the Rebate Processor Online Job schemes.

The trouble with this one, it’s just like the Work At Home Data Entry Job schemes. These are not “jobs” in the traditional sense of the word. Job implies wages earned for time and/or work completed.

And, like the Work From Home Data Entry schemes, the Online Rebate Processor is equally misleading – therefore deemed a scam.

Now, if they advertised these schemes for what they really are – a way to make money online by affiliate marketing and online advertising – the desperate masses of people who are looking to get rich quick would not be interested. Affiliate marketing and online advertising imply that some kind of effort, knowledge, skill and/or experience may be required. And, where’s the fast and easy money in having to learn or know all that?

Scam artists are knowledgeable and skilled in the art of scamming – remember this. They know exactly how to play on the one thing that drives people to buy into their bogus programs – fear. The fear of lack . More specifically, the fear of lack of money. They also know that this fear and desperation related to lack of money is exactly what sells.

Further, these clever crafters target the unsuspecting online novice, beginner or newbie. Why? Because they know that their questionable products/services will never be purchased by a seasoned or skilled Internet user. Which is exactly why they can’t use words like affiliate marketing or online marketing. Competition for selling highly legitimate products and services in this area is already quite fierce.

So, anything that sounds like fast and easy money or a way to get rich quick attracts the masses. Here’s where the process rebates from home comes in. They basically tell you that all you have to do is “fill out simple little forms” when people ask for their rebate and you’ll earn from $10 to $20 for each one – no limit. This of course amounts to thousands of dollars per minute or per day or whatever, right?

Not exactly. Not even close. Just like in the article, “Legitimate Work At Home Data Entry Jobs”, where I explain that the actual data entry in those work at home data entry programs is actually an after-thought or means to an end, the actual form that you’re filling out to process the rebate is the same. The actual typing of the form and/or “processing” of it has nothing to do with how you earn money.

And, like the work at home data entry job schemes, what you’re paying for is some person’s version of instructions on how and where to place online ads in order to sell affiliate products and services. The only way you make money is through the actual sale of products and/or services.

Now, in order to help you sell these products or services, they explain to you how to encourage people to buy these products or services by promising to give them a partial refund (the rebate) when they make their purchase using your affiliate links. You’re basically giving them part of your commission from your affiliate sale. And, that’s pretty much all there is to it.

Now, is this whole process of affiliate marketing and online advertising a legitimate way to make money online? For the most part, sure. The scam nature of it all comes in because of the misleading advertising and promises that are made in order to get you to buy into such programs. The false claims of being able to make money by processing rebates online is the scam.

The information and training these online rebate processor schemes provide may be worth your while if you are new to the online arena and/or have no experience in selling, marketing or making money online. However, I would question the quality of it all being as how it’s coming from a misleading source to begin with. There are countless legitimate, respectable and reputable sources online that teach the basics of affiliate marketing and online advertising for free.

When looking for legitimate home-based work you should consider working for a Virtual Call Center, outsourcing firms that provide phone support using home-based workers, as a home-based call center agent. It’s really not as complicated as it sounds. It’s simply the concept of a company routing their incoming customer service calls to your home phone.

There is no selling involved! These are incoming and inbound calls only. Home based agents are NOT telemarketers (sales callers that cold all people during dinner with high pressure sales pitches).

Typical call center agents perform duties, such as, taking and logging orders, processing transactions, providing customer assistance and making various types of reservations. For example, you could be taking orders for flowers, catalog items, office supplies, etc…, for and on behalf of today’s most popular and biggest names in the wireless, internet, retail, restaurant and other industries.

Virtual call center services are being sought and gaining popularity as companies seek alternatives to running and operating traditional in-house call centers or offshore outsourcing.

Connected by the technology of high-speed internet connections and call routing software solutions, companies are discovering that they are able to deliver premium customer service more efficiently and productively than their in-house counterparts. What’s more, home-based call center agents have proven to be highly motivated, largely due to being able to work from their homes on flexible and convenient schedules that allow them to plug-in and take calls at home, day or night – with some shifts being as short as 15 minutes. These advantages result in lower turnover rates than with in-house employees that are committed to set and long hours working in cubicles or offices.

Home-based call center agents work particularly well when companies need greater flexibility to support fluctuating call volumes during peak seasons or specific blocks of time, such as, during infomercials, sales events, ticket sales, fundraising events, etc…

Working as a home-based call center agent provides a legitimate way for stay-at-home moms, individuals with disabilities, retirees, college students and those who care for elderly or ill family members to earn a steady and realistic income of $8 to $20 per hour. And, since all agent hiring, training and scheduling is conducted online, you don’t even have to get out of your pajamas to get a job!

Where to start? So far, I’ve researched, found and listed 57 virtual call center companies that hire home-based customer service employees and staff.

If you know of or find any others, please let me know and I’d add them to the list.

There are hosts of online places you can look for real and legitimate work at home jobs and employment, but the key to maximizing your search efforts is to learn/know how and where to look for these posted positions.

No doubt, looking for at home, home-based and/or telecommuting work can be a frustrating, full-time job in itself – but it doesn’t have to be.

The following steps can help you search daily to find jobs using work at home databases, freelance project/job boards, mixed job boards and search engines.

STEP 1.
Create a list of relevant and related search terms and keywords. These words need to be based on your skills and the type of work that you’re looking for. Create your list in a plain text editor, print it, save it, edit it and use it daily!

Some of the words, terms and keywords that I’ve used include: telecommute, telecommuting, home based, homebased, homebase, freelance, freelancer, freelance position, freelancers wanted, freelance employment, contractor, offsite, virtual, remote, telework, teleworker, data processing, database administrator, assistant, copy editing, proofreader, spellchecker, type, edit, write, writing, researcher, customer service, call center, web designer, etc…

STEP 2.
Spend 10 to 15 per day at 2-4 trusted and reliable work at home job database/directory sites where you can browse frequently added and updated listings. A few examples include: http://www.slashdotjobs.com, http://www.paylinkpal.com and http://www.moneymakingmommy.com.

STEP 3.
Spend 10 to 15 minutes per day at 2-3 large and reputable freelance project/job board sites, browsing only the new listings that fit your skills and interests. A few examples include: http://www.allfreelancework.com, http://www.freelance-work.net and http://www.guru.com.

STEP 4.
Spend no more than 15 minutes per day at 1-2 major job board sites, such as, http://www.careerbuiler.com, http://www.indeed.com and http://www.simplyhired.com. Be sure to use only relevant search terms and keywords and don’t waste your time browsing stale listings.

STEP 5.
Spend no more than 5 minutes per day at 1 major search engine site, such as, http://www.google.com or http://www.yahoo.com. Really narrow your search at these sites by only using terms like: we’re hiring, freelancers wanted, offsite employment, current openings and employment opportunities.

TIP: Using these steps and perhaps a few of your own, develop your own tweaked routine for your daily job search. Persistence and commitment are keys to successful work at home employment.

TIP: To help in narrowing your job search and keep from wasting your time, make it a habit to search and view only the new and most recently updated job listings.

Granted, this type of job definitely isn’t for everyone! Only you can know and decide if this kind of work is suitable for you. With that being said, working as a home based phone and/or chat actress does have its benefits.

For instance, upon researching many of these companies that hire phone sex operators (PSO is the abbreviation they use), I found that operators typically earn anywhere from $9 to $20 or more per hour.

Other advantages include: No experience required, flexible schedules around-the-clock, regular pay and safely anonymous to callers.

Most of these companies have the same requirements, such as; must be at least 18 years old, have a quite work place, have a land-line with a corded phone, and be willing to openly discuss a wide variety of topics and fantasies that are sexually explicit in nature.

If this sounds like a work from home job for you, the following steps will help you to get started…

STEP 1.
There are many adult telephone entertainment companies looking to hire. Browse the following company sites :

The Boulevard Entertainment Inc
The Boulevard Entertainment, Inc. is one of the most recognized and prestigious adult telephone entertainment companies, specializing in one-on-one erotic adult conversations for the last 19 years.

Phone Actress
We are the nation’s largest no fee recruitment site for Internet and Telephone Actresses & Actors! Start your exciting career in phone entertainment while maintaining complete anonymity.

Gayle Staffing
Get paid to talk. Set your own hours. Be your own boss. Earn up to $24 per hour. We are currently looking for men and women to staff busy
adult phone sex lines.

Phone Entertainers
Home based audiotext entertainers. Adult entertainment has proven to be a steady source of income time and time again. Earn up to $18 per hour.

Madamay
Easily make yourself available or unavailable for calls anytime you like. Your pay rate will be determined by the one factor you have complete control over, the amount of time you are available for calls. As long as you have an incoming phone line, you can work with Madamay.

Sexy Jobs
Welcome to the premier employment center for the adult entertainment industry. Hundreds of high-paying adult jobs are now available phone sex operators, webmasters, text chat operators and much more, including many work at home jobs.

Sexy Job Line
You will be engaging in conversation of a sexually explicit nature with our clients. We are a dispatch service; all calls will be routed directly to you from the company so you will remain completely anonymous.

STEP 2.
To find more companies that are hiring, search your favorite search engine, such as, Google. Use keywords like: phone actress, phone actor, chat actress, phone sex operator, adult operator, adult entertainment operator, adult phone jobs, etc…, you get the idea.

STEP 3.
Apply to companies that you are interested in, but BE SURE to read each company’s rules, pay rates, schedules, equipment requirements, etc…

STEP 4.
Talk, act and get paid! Good luck!

What do you think? Is this type of home based job for you? Have you done this type of work before? Know of any other companies that hire home based phone sex operators?

So, you want to work from home, do you? Well, sure you do, or at least you think you do. But, before you decide to quit your 9 to 5 and become homeward bound, you might be wise to consider some common working-from-home myths and truths.

The following myths and truths and are based on my first-hand accounts and personal experiences as a work at home mom.

Myth #1: I won’t have to spend money on child care anymore.

Wrong. When’s the last time your toddler’s attention span lasted more than 10 minutes? You’ll spend every 10 minutes trying to concentrate, desperate for a intelligent thought and the next 5 minutes picking up your cd’s off the floor and putting them back into their cases.

Then, you’ll again spend another 10 minutes in attempt to concentrate and focus again. And, for the next 5 minutes you’ll be taking away the Fruit Loops box and trying to hurry up and pick the cereal off the floor before the dog ends up getting sick.

And, this will be your daily routine, not to mention the 2 hours you’ll have to spend every day cleaning up after your daily hurricane. YiKeS!

Seriously, you’ll be hurting for childcare in the worst way! You’re going to want and need childcare – period!

Myth #2: I’ll work while my baby is sleeping.

Wrong. Babies never sleep when you want them to or when it is convenient for you. You already know this. Everyone else’s babies will sleep, but yours won’t, trust me!

Myth #3: I will be able to spend more time with my family.

Wrong. You’ll certainly be home a whole lot more but you won’t be spending your time with your family – you’ll be working.

You’ll be trying to grab every spare moment you can in order to work and be successful. And, your family won’t understand. They just won’t, not at least for awhile. This part takes time and a whole lot of it.

Your family will feel rejected, they’ll get frustrated and you’re going to end up a bit stressed out until things start to fall in place.

You’ll end up being the mom in the back bedroom who seems to find her work more important than her family (which isn’t true). It will happen, I’m telling you – it will.

Myth #4: I’ll finally be able to get my housework done.

Wrong. No how, No way, uh, uh! It ain’t happenin’! Laundry becomes heaps of dirty clothes in your laundry room. Your family members will start stealing clean pairs of socks from each others rooms.

Dishes will pile up in your sink until you finally resort to paper plates and plastic cups and you find yourself throwing a fit when anyone accidentally uses a “real dish”.

You’ll either end up begging your housekeeper to come back or you’ll be seriously considering hiring one! What’s worse yet is that things like grocery shopping and banking become appointments that you have to make with yourself and force yourself to keep.

Myth #5: It’s so much easier now that I’m my own boss.

Wrong again! Now it’s all on your shoulders! You can’t just show up at a certain time, do your work, go home and get paid. Now you’ve got to create, gain and get and complete all of your own work in order to get paid!

So, now you end up a slave to your own work. You’ll work countless hours, days, nights and weekends in order to scratch out your pay. Working from home and being your own boss, like anything, has it pros and cons. Knowing about these pros and cons will definitely help you to better prepare yourself for many of the things that can be difficult.

I have learned that nothing worth having comes easy, neither does scratching out a living working from home. Keep yourself in the know and always be prepared for the unexpected!

What myths and truths have you experienced working from home?

“Mommy, mommy I have to go poop now – come wipe my butt!”, hollers my toddler (in my face), while I’m on the phone.

What? A professional at home? Any other time this certainly wouldn’t of phased me, however, I just so happened to be on the phone with a client who was interested in making a very large purchase from me. I would like to of died!

Instead, I start to apologize and explain that I’m a work-at-home mom and that the daycare was closed due to vacations, etc… Thank goodness my client had a sense of humor! He immediately started to laugh and told me that he has 3 kids of his own.

So, needless-to-say, being professional while working-from-home can be quite challenging at times, especially when you have kids. I learned, very early on, being a work-at-home mom requires daycare – period!

Creating and maintaining a professional persona while working-from-home has been vital to my success. Consider a few steps that I have taken and see how they might help you as well:

Step 1:
Create a routine work schedule for yourself. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted with house-work or running errands – you’ll never get anything done.

Step 2:
Make your routine work schedule known to your family and friends. Make it clear to them that you are working during this time.

Step 3:
If you deal with clients or customers, have normal business or working hours during the day when they can contact you.

Step 4:
Answer your phone as a professional, just as you would if you were working for a company away from your home.

Step 5:
Organize your work area just as you would if you were working away from home. Keep toys, empty dinner plates, etc… out.

Step 6:
Never lose your sense-of-humor – you’re going to need it!

TIP:
It takes self-discipline, planning, creativity and juggling to be a successful work-at-home professional, to say the least. Don’t get discouraged. Let time, experience and experimentation be your guides and teachers.

QUESTION:
How do you do it? How do you be professional while working from home?

If you’re like me, you’ve donated your blood dozens of times for free, right? Well, if you’re looking to make some quick cash – you can always donate your plasma.

The procedure is pretty much the same. They stick a needle in your arm and drain your blood. Only when you “donate” your plasma, you’re being compensated for your time. The process and procedure is a bit more complicated and does take more time – at least on your first intial visit.

From what I’ve learned – you can earn anywhere from $20 to $40 each time you go in and “donate your plasma”. Now, you can’t go and do this every day – most places allow you to donate up to twice per week. That’s an easy $40 to $80 per week.

This money maker is most popular with broke & poor college students, but is becoming more popular with people from all walks of life. Afterall, it is for a good cause. Plasma is commonly used for transfusions to people who have suffered shock, burns or trauma.

Where to donate your plasma? Check your Yellow Pages or a nearby college campus for the closest plasma collection center, blood bank or blood collection center. There are more than 400 for-profit plasma collection centers in the United States.

A few more resources I’ve found include:

Plasma Protein Theraputics Association
http://www.pptaglobal.org
