There are hosts of online places you can look for real and legitimate work at home jobs and employment, but the key to maximizing your search efforts is to learn/know how and where to look for these posted positions.

No doubt, looking for at home, home-based and/or telecommuting work can be a frustrating, full-time job in itself – but it doesn’t have to be.

The following steps can help you search daily to find jobs using work at home databases, freelance project/job boards, mixed job boards and search engines.

STEP 1.
Create a list of relevant and related search terms and keywords. These words need to be based on your skills and the type of work that you’re looking for. Create your list in a plain text editor, print it, save it, edit it and use it daily!

Some of the words, terms and keywords that I’ve used include: telecommute, telecommuting, home based, homebased, homebase, freelance, freelancer, freelance position, freelancers wanted, freelance employment, contractor, offsite, virtual, remote, telework, teleworker, data processing, database administrator, assistant, copy editing, proofreader, spellchecker, type, edit, write, writing, researcher, customer service, call center, web designer, etc…

STEP 2.
Spend 10 to 15 per day at 2-4 trusted and reliable work at home job database/directory sites where you can browse frequently added and updated listings. A few examples include: http://www.slashdotjobs.com, http://www.paylinkpal.com and http://www.moneymakingmommy.com.

STEP 3.
Spend 10 to 15 minutes per day at 2-3 large and reputable freelance project/job board sites, browsing only the new listings that fit your skills and interests. A few examples include: http://www.allfreelancework.com, http://www.freelance-work.net and http://www.guru.com.

STEP 4.
Spend no more than 15 minutes per day at 1-2 major job board sites, such as, http://www.careerbuiler.com, http://www.indeed.com and http://www.simplyhired.com. Be sure to use only relevant search terms and keywords and don’t waste your time browsing stale listings.

STEP 5.
Spend no more than 5 minutes per day at 1 major search engine site, such as, http://www.google.com or http://www.yahoo.com. Really narrow your search at these sites by only using terms like: we’re hiring, freelancers wanted, offsite employment, current openings and employment opportunities.

TIP: Using these steps and perhaps a few of your own, develop your own tweaked routine for your daily job search. Persistence and commitment are keys to successful work at home employment.
