I actually found out that being my own boss I work many times as much as I used to. Not because I feel like I have to , but because I ca see the Sense in what I am doing. I know that every smallest thing I do it takes me further every day and ulitimately I keep all the profits.
The other thing is that I have a tremendous passion for what I am doing and don't have to force myself to do anything. Every step I want to take becomes my own personal goal.
When you work is your passion money becomes a secondary thing.
I also relised what is the true value of my time - it is measured by what I can accomplish. So when I remind myself of 7.50/hour I used to make, it looks like a huge waste of resources on my part. I was wasting my own potential.
Makig money outside your comfort zone is not for everyone, and in the beggining it is not as sweet as some say, but the most important thing for me is creating my live on my own terms.
All Best!!!

I used to not understand how my wife couldn't get everything done when she was home with the kids. Well, I've had a few days with them I can see why. If you can get a good two hours work done during a nap then you're lucky! Thanks for the post!

I work from home and i totally agree. Even when my kids are both in school, I have the TV and net surfing as major distractions. Working from home is for those who are totally focussed and who can really work without any form of nudging. It is tough, indeed!

Thank you for this! These are ALL so true. I am happy to be able to work at home but people have so many misconceptions about it.

For instance, my family thinks that at any point in time I am able to just be interrupted or drop anything to do whatever else might need doing. They completely don't get that it is just if I called them and asked them to leave work at a moment's notice. It's just not always possible. I'm at work! Oh, and don't get me started about the problems of being a WAHM with a toddler. No one feels like I ever need a babysitter.

I get frustrated with people not understanding that even though I am working at home, it's still my job and it's still work. They act as though I am sitting at the computer chatting or playing games all the time, like I don't have a job or anything at all that needs to get done.

Thanks for the great post pointing out these frustrating myths.

Nice post, employed people do not know what self-employed life is like - Tax man to sort out no wage every month in the bank. Banks are nervous of you and borrowing is more difficult. Self motivation is draining, it is much easier to let your work boss do the motivating. Employees can go into autopilot and hours a day you can be in sleep mode. Self-employed people can have a urgent call at 11pm that must be dealt with - you are always swithch full on.
